School Uniform

The parent council of Stranraer Academy are proud to announce their unequivocal support for the school’s uniform policy. It is imperative that every student adheres to these guidelines, as it encourages a sense of unity and pride within the school community. In the unlikely event that a student fails to do so, the school will contact parents in the form of a welfare check, seeking their assistance in upholding these standards. The school is committed to ensuring that students are representing themselves and their institution with respect, professionalism and dignity.

It is worth noting that uniform checks are conducted on a daily basis during registration, and are also performed throughout the year by Year Heads and Pupil Support. This ensures that every student is accountable for their appearance and that they are doing their part in contributing to the positive atmosphere at Stranraer Academy.

We would like to take this opportunity to express our heartfelt gratitude to everyone who has supported us thus far. We believe that by working together, we can create an environment where all students can thrive and achieve their full potential.

Uniform Guidelines

  • Jackets and outer garments should be removed when entering classes
  • Blazers should be worn in and around the school but can be removed during classes
  • Trousers should be school-type trousers and plain black (not denim/skinny jeans nor leggings)
  • Skirts should be plain black and an appropriate length for school
  • Shirts/blouses should have collars and sleeves and should be buttoned
  • Ties should be worn at all times except in subjects where for safety reasons or ease of working they can be removed. Ties should cover every button
  • Plain black v-neck jumpers/cardigans can be worn (available from Carlisle Embroidery with a school badge)
Shoes should be plain black (canvas-type shoes/trainers are acceptable without designs/logos)
  • The usual guidelines exist for bringing school bags and equipment to school and for inappropriate clothing

PE Kit Guidelines

Physical Education is a vital part of the curriculum at Stranraer Academy, ensuring that all young people are given the opportunity to keep fit and healthy. It is important for pupils to participate fully by wearing appropriate clothing and footwear specifically for P.E. lessons.

To ensure that students are comfortable and able to move freely, we recommend wearing a t-shirt and shorts or joggers during P.E. lessons, along with suitable sports footwear. It is important that any sports jumpers worn are plain or have very little sports branding. This helps to avoid distractions, allowing pupils to fully immerse themselves in their physical activities.

To foster an environment that is conducive to learning and growth, we do not permit any clothing that is offensive or inappropriate for P.E. lessons. Therefore, official football tops and clothing that are too bright or offensive are not permitted.

We appreciate your cooperation in ensuring that all students are able to participate fully in Physical Education at Stranraer Academy.

If you believe you may be eligible for this assistance, please do not hesitate to contact the school for more detailed information (or see the clothing grant section below). They are always ready and willing to help.
