Extra Curricular Sports Clubs & Activities

At Stranraer Academy, the extra-curricular programme is a great initiative that encourages staff and local coaches to volunteer their time and expertise. This is further supplemented by the active participation of parent volunteers and qualified coaches from external agencies. This approach ensures that a diverse and engaging programme of sporting activities can be offered to pupils after school. As a result, several clubs provide pupils with the opportunity to compete in regional leagues, events and national championships. Interested students can find a comprehensive list of these clubs on the PE noticeboard.

The extra-curricular activities at Stranraer Academy offer several benefits to students other than just developing their sporting and recreational interests. These activities also aim to promote the personal and social development of students, improving their cooperation, and interaction with others. These activities aim to develop closer links between pupils and staff through a relaxed working environment and offer links to clubs and sports in the community. The academy is dedicated to encouraging a wide range of abilities and interests in students, ensuring that all participants find the experience both enjoyable and rewarding.

    Extra Curricular Groups

At our institution, we believe in providing a well-rounded education that extends beyond academic pursuits. We offer a range of extracurricular activities that enable our students to develop their interests, build new skills, and make lasting friendships.

We are proud to offer a variety of programs such as the Duke of Edinburgh’s Award Scheme (Bronze, Silver and Gold), Eco-Schools and the Dandelion Project, Fairtrade and Young Enterprise. These programs encourage our students to challenge themselves, take initiative, and broaden their perspectives.

In addition to these programs, we also offer a wide range of weekly extra-curricular activities that cater to different interests and talents. These include an S1 CDT Craft Club, Warhammer, Boys Rugby, Boys Football, Badminton, Girls Rugby, Girls Netball, LGBTQ+ drop-in, and much more.

Our goal is to foster an inclusive and supportive community that encourages our students to pursue their passions and develop a strong sense of identity. Through our extracurricular offerings, we strive to provide a well-rounded and enriching experience for all of our students.
