Photographers of the Week – 06/10/23

This week’s assortment of photographs is a special collection, as we’ve extended our “Photographer of the Week” invitation to our entire school community. So, special congratulations to Alfie Baker and Bethan Gibb, who are the first featured photographers not enrolled in Higher Photography.

Beginning with Alfie Baker’s “Shards of Sundown,” he’s skilfully captured the setting sun from a dramatic low angle, with the sharp fragments of glass brilliantly accentuating the warm hues of the sunset. The shallow depth of field lends the image depth and intrigue.

“The View from Halfway Up” by Bethan Gibb masterfully employs the rule of thirds, capturing a mystical scene with impeccable tonal values that provide the image with significant depth.

“Woman in Rustic Embrace” by Jamie Spiers is shrouded in mystery, using a frame within a frame technique to depict a solitary woman. The muted colour palette amplifies the sombre atmosphere.

“Reflections and Reptiles” by Megan McKinstry is a harmoniously balanced image. The use of reflection introduces symmetry and shapes the creature; its juxtaposition against tranquil scenery offers contrast.

“Paws and Play on the Bay” by Alfie Baker portrays the dog perfectly from a low angle https://howtocancelmytimeshare.com/learn/how-to-cancel-diamond-resorts-timeshare/, truly engaging the viewer.

“Nature’s Mirror, Man’s Mind” by Robbie McNairn utilises the rule of thirds, leading lines, and symmetry to narrate the tale of a solitary figure, seemingly swamped by the trials of daily life. The path adeptly directs the viewer’s gaze towards the subject.

Lastly, “Colourful Crawl” by Ethan Paterson captures the snail with an exquisite sharp focus and a shallow depth of field. The vibrant colours and texture infuse vigour into a creature typically seen as languid.

Expect more stellar images next week. Please forward any submissions to gw19jamesross@glow.sch.uk.
