The first week back to school has seen an increase in the Accelerated Reader word counts of almost all classes. Well done to those pupils who kept reading over the holiday. Following Mrs Fay’s presentation at the S2 Subject Choice Information Evening, now is a good time to remind parents and carers that the reading age of National 5 and Higher exams is 16+. The only way to develop literacy skills and continue acquisition of vocabulary is to keep reading at an appropriate level, and for pupils to test their understanding of what they have read. Please contact Mrs Gibb for any questions on the Accelerated Reader scheme: [email protected]
