Dear parents/carers
I hope this message finds you well. I wanted to take a moment to share some positive feedback and highlights from a recent meeting I had with the S3 Pupil Council at Stranraer Academy.
Firstly, I want to express my gratitude for your continued support throughout this busy week. Your involvement makes a significant difference.
During my conversation with the S3 Pupil Council, I was impressed by their insightful and enjoyable discussion about our school. These young individuals have a keen understanding of what constitutes excellent teaching, and they recognise the quality of education they receive here at Stranraer Academy. In fact, a parent who has children attending both our school and a private institution kindly remarked that our learning experience surpasses that of the fee-paying school. This is a testament to the hard work and dedication of our staff.
I would like to share some lighthearted but genuine feedback from the S3 Pupil Council:
Mr McCurry is referred to as the ‘OG’ (which means ‘original gangster’) and is seen as an exemplary teacher who possesses unique abilities.
Mrs Little is praised for her excellent explanations, and Miss McCrone is always willing to offer assistance.
Mr Dornan is commended for making students feel noticed and comfortable in his class.
Mrs Brown is seen as an icon who shows care and appreciation towards students, even when gently teasing them.
Ms Grierson is described as the kindest person ever, always moving around the class and offering help to everyone.
Dr Marshall, Mr Halliday, Lockwood, and Mrs Rankin were also mentioned positively.
Eileen Bradley is regarded as a legend and a favourite teacher among the students.
Lastly, Mr Ayers is likened to a cuddly bear but is also known for his ability to assert himself when needed. The students also appreciate his unique fashion sense.
What stood out to me was the deep admiration and affection our students have for their teachers at Stranraer Academy. They truly value the magic that their teachers bring into their lives, and it means the world to them.
Wishing you all a fantastic and well-deserved long weekend.
Warm regards,
Jamie Farquhar
