STRANRAER ACADEMY

Headteacher Bulletin – #21

Dear Parents and Carers,

I hope this message finds you well as we enter the last week before the October break at Stranraer Academy. Our students have been working hard, and I’m proud of their efforts and achievements. As we approach the break, I’d like to highlight some important updates and events.

S1Parents’ Evening

Join us for the S1 Parents’ Evening at Stranraer Academy this Wednesday, 9th October, from 4:00 pm to 6:15 pm. This is a great opportunity to meet with teachers, discuss your child’s progress, and gain valuable insights into their learning journey. We look forward to welcoming you and working together to support your child’s education.

Attendance

Promoting strong attendance remains a top priority for us, as it is fundamental to your child’s academic progress and overall development. While we understand that absences can sometimes be necessary, we encourage families to support their children in maintaining a steady and reliable attendance pattern. Every day of school is an opportunity for growth and sustained attendance ensures that pupils are fully engaged in their learning, setting them on the path to success.

New Staff

We are pleased to welcome Erika Pearson, who has joined our English and Languages department as a teacher of French and Spanish.

Additionally, we are delighted to announce that Gill Bone has been appointed as our new Principal Teacher of Social Subjects. Gill brings a wealth of experience, having previously served as acting PT of Maths and Business at Dumfries Academy. We are confident she will be a great addition to our team.

S4 Tracking & Aspirations

We are encouraged by the target grades coming through from S4, and we will continue to work with pupils to help them achieve their goals and reach their full potential.

Sensory Room Opening

Last week, we celebrated the official opening of the refurbished Sensory Room in Aird, a wonderful resource made possible through community fundraising. A special thank you goes to Diane Sisi and her team, along with everyone involved in this project.

Thank you for your continued support.

Best regards,
Jamie Farquhar
