From Local Competitions to Global Recognition in Highland Dance
S3 pupil Issie Lamberton had a successful summer competing at the Highland Games, bringing back multiple trophies, medals, and cash winnings.
During the summer break, she attended Burntisland, Biggar, Bridge of Allan, Galashiels, Langholm Common Riding, Northern Ireland Championships, and Perth, to name a few. She also competed in the Commonwealth Championships as a final practice before the Worlds.
On 28th June, Issie travelled to Dunoon to prepare for the 130th anniversary World Championships of Highland Dance on the 29th and the Scottish Championships on the 30th.
Incredibly, Issie was one of only 11 dancers to be called back for the World Championship awards, ranking her among the top 11-13 year olds worldwide. Issie placed a fantastic 5th from one judge for her Reel of Tulloch, winning her first-ever “Cowal medal” and earning her first Championship point. This was an incredible achievement for Issie and a total surprise, as she described this year as “going for experience.”
Issie is now in full training for next year’s World Championships and hopes to achieve even more amazing results along the way.
