We’re back! After a week off, it’s time to put things back in focus — and the entries keep pouring in. The sheer talent this week is incredible, and it’s becoming a real challenge to showcase everything without running out of pixels. But fear not, we might even sneak in a couple of midweek specials to make sure nothing amazing gets missed.
A big congratulations again to last week’s winners: Ellie May Watson, Daniel Moradillo, and Katie Kirkbride, who now move on to December’s final. And let’s not forget a few wildcards from that very strong week — sometimes the surprises are the best part!
This week, the highlights are dazzling. Keara Bark’s Furry Friend has us swooning over a red squirrel perched on moss, while Dylan Heron’s A Moment of Glory captures a soccer team mid-celebration, grins and high-fives flying. Between playful pets, triumphant sports, and jaw-dropping landscapes, the entries show off skill, creativity, and just the right amount of mischief — and honestly, some of them make the rest of us wonder if we even know how to press a shutter button properly.
Don’t forget to cast your vote for this week’s winner!
Photographer of the Week is open to all students, so please send your images to Ross James at gw19jamesross@glow.sch.uk. Alternatively, visit our wider achievement page to upload your successes. If you have a photograph you’re proud of, we want to see it!

Chasing Rainbows by Jack Howie
In "Chasing Rainbows," Jack Howie gives us the full countryside package: rolling green hills, a post-shower glow, and—because it’s Britain—power lines politely photobombing the view. The rainbow itself stretches dramatically across the sky as if to say, “Yes, I am the main character here.” The whole scene feels hopeful and serene, like nature’s way of reminding us that after every downpour comes a free light show—assuming you’re quick enough to spot it before it disappears.

Furry Friend by Keara Bark
In Furry Friend, Keara Bark snaps a red squirrel perched on a mossy branch, all warm browns, fiery oranges and deep greens. The fluffy fur begs a cuddle, the moss says, “don’t even try it.” Natural light shows off the squirrel’s cheeky charm – playful yet calm. The whole scene feels intimate and inviting, a proper nod to the quiet beauty of wildlife.

Colors in Flight by Alistair Swan
In Colours in Flight, Alistair Swan captures jets painting the sky with bold streaks of red, white and blue. Their formation slices through the clouds in a pattern so precise it feels choreographed. The contrast of vibrant smoke against the grey sky adds punch and drama, turning the clouds into a ready-made canvas. It’s part art, part adrenaline, and entirely impressive — who needs fireworks when the sky itself puts on the show?

Nature's Best Friend by Taylan Aston
In Nature’s Best Friend, Taylan Aston captures a lively German Shepherd puppy amid lush greenery. Its curious eyes and playful pose radiate joy, while tall grass frames the scene and soft clouds provide a gentle backdrop. Vibrant fur pops against muted tones, celebrating both the charm of the puppy and the simple delight of exploring outdoors with a loyal companion. Pure energy and friendship in one picture — no leash required.

Harbor Lights by Charley Boyd
In Harbor Lights, Charley Boyd captures a peaceful evening at the marina, where soft lights shimmer on calm waters. Silhouetted boats line the docks, while gentle ripples add movement to the serene scene. Cool twilight tones blend sky and water, hinting at the day’s quiet end and inviting a moment of reflection. It’s a scene that celebrates the simple, tranquil beauty of coastal life — no rush, just calm.

Eiffel Enchantment by Lola McCaig
In Eiffel Enchantment, Lola Mccaig captures the tower glowing gold against the twilight sky, its ironwork shining with Parisian elegance. Bare branches frame the scene, guiding the eye upwards, while soft shadows and light create a dreamy, romantic feel. Silhouetted figures below give scale and connection, reminding us that even in the City of Love, the best views are still a bit of a neck ache.

Aerial Mastery by Hamish Scott
In Aerial Mastery, Hamish Scott freezes a dazzling airshow moment, as jets slice through the clouds trailing red, white and blue. The drama of their movement contrasts with the still crowd below, heads tilted skyward in shared awe. The formation pulls the eye upwards, a dance in the sky with precision and flair. Even the clouds seem to stand back and admire it — a show that’s as much about the pilots’ skill as the collective gasp from the crowd.

Paws on the Path by Georgia Sutherland
In Paws on the Path, Georgia Sutherland captures a peaceful walk along a winding trail, where a dog strolls beside a calm waterway. Bare trees and soft sky light frame the scene, while the curving path invites the viewer to follow. The dog, small against the broad landscape, adds companionship and a sense of adventure. Muted tones and gentle textures evoke a quiet afternoon in nature, celebrating the simple joy of a walk with a loyal friend.

Petals of Joy by Esmai McCredie
In Petals of Joy, Esmai McCredie captures a vibrant pink flower in close-up, its petals radiating energy and colour. Delicate white streaks and a bright yellow centre draw the eye, contrasting beautifully with the lush green background. Soft lighting enhances the flower’s textures and warmth, celebrating nature’s simple yet profound beauty — a cheerful reminder of life’s small joys.

A Moment of Glory by Dylan Heron
In A Moment of Glory, Dylan Heron catches a team mid-celebration after slotting a goal – pure raw emotion and togetherness on display. The bright blue kits pop against the blurry green pitch, pulling focus to the players’ grins and wild gestures. Tight framing drags you right into the action, buzzing with energy and triumph. It’s a shot that nails the thrill of victory and the bond of teamwork.

Farmers at Work by Cameron McClymont
In Farmers at Work, Cameron McClymont captures a combine harvester and tractor working side by side in a golden field. The machinery stands out against the blue sky, while dust clouds hint at the constant motion of harvest life. Warm tones and wispy clouds create a serene yet energetic scene, celebrating both the skill of modern farming and the timeless bond between people and land. A reminder that producing our food is hard work — and no, it doesn’t come from the supermarket shelf by magic.

Explosive Views by Blake Dorans
In Explosive Views, Blake Dorans sets a mountain bike against a backdrop of fireworks bursting through the night sky. The stillness of the bike contrasts with the chaos of colour above, a mix of calm adventure and pure celebration. City lights in the distance add depth, while a handy signpost nudges the eye through the scene. It’s a shot that fuses cycling and fireworks into one big thrill — proof you don’t always need to pedal hard to get sparks flying.

Peekaboo Paws by Beth Blythe
In Peekaboo Paws, Beth Blythe captures a curious cat peeking out of a patterned bag. Wide eyes and alert ears radiate mischief, while the soft textures of the bag contrast with sleek fur. Delicate floral details add charm, making the scene cosy and inviting. A perfect snapshot of feline playfulness — guaranteed to coax a smile from anyone watching.

Rider's Reverie by Atticus Orr Ewing
In Rider’s Reverie, Atticus Orr Ewing captures a motocross rider poised against a vivid sunset. Oranges and pinks light the sky, adding drama to the scene, while the rider’s confident stance embodies freedom and adventure. Tall grass in the foreground adds depth, and fence posts hint at the rugged landscape beyond. The shot perfectly balances the thrill of motorsport with the beauty of nature, inviting viewers to imagine the rides that await at dusk.

Celestial Glow by Amie Johnston
In Celestial Glow, Amie Johnston offers a striking close-up of the moon, glowing bright against the black void. Its craters and plains show up in crisp detail, each mark hinting at its long, rocky past. The soft light gives the scene a calm, almost dreamlike feel, while the surrounding stars whisper of infinite space. The moon takes centre stage here — quiet, majestic, and showing us it doesn’t need to shout to steal the spotlight.

Fallen Warrior by Aiden Kyle
In Fallen Warrior, Aiden Kyle shows a stormtrooper action figure resting against a tree, blending nostalgia with a hint of melancholy. The detailed armour and slumped pose contrast the figure’s heroic design with its vulnerable spot. Soft natural light and textured bark give the scene realism, inviting reflection on loss and the passage of time — or, you know, what happens when a toy finally takes a day off.
