We are thrilled to announce that our S3/4 girls’ football team has secured a coveted spot in the national finals following an outstanding performance in the south-west Scotland qualifiers held in Hamilton! This journey began with their earlier qualification in the Dumfries and Galloway regional qualifiers, laying the foundation for a highly competitive event.
In a fiercely contested S3/4 section featuring two groups of six teams, our girls exhibited exceptional skills and unwavering determination. The tournament’s format dictated that the group winners and the best runner-up would advance to the national final – a stage now proudly occupied by Stranraer.
Throughout the day, our girls demonstrated a potent combination of a resilient defense, impressive link-up play in the middle, and clinical finishing. Stranraer got off to an impressive start, winning their first four games and securing the title of best runners-up despite a narrow defeat in their final match against the eventual winners.
While the date and venue for the national finals are yet to be confirmed, the excitement is palpable as we anticipate the culmination of their hard work and talent on the grand stage. Every player made significant contributions to the team’s success, and their well-deserved spot in the finals speaks volumes.
