Issie Lamberton: A Rising Star in Musical Theatre and Highland Dancing
Issie Lamberton is rapidly making her mark as a multi-talented performer, combining her passion for musical theatre with her prowess in Highland dancing. At just 14 years old, Issie has already achieved feats that many can only dream of, demonstrating the power of hard work, determination, and an unwavering commitment to her craft.
Musical Theatre Journey
Issie’s journey in musical theatre reached a thrilling milestone when she was cast as a main dancer in Matilda the Musical Jr. after successfully auditioning in November 2024. With weekly rehearsals in Glasgow since January, she has immersed herself in every aspect of the production, living her lifelong dream of performing on the professional stage. Her dedication and talent shone brightly when she took to the stage with the Glasgow Academy of Musical Theatre Arts, marking her debut in a professional show. Now, Issie has been offered a prestigious opportunity to further her training in musical theatre on an advanced course with Gamta. This comprehensive program includes specialist training in singing, acting, jazz dance, tap, ballet, and more—along with performance opportunities in a Christmas show, summer production, studio cabaret, corporate events, and preparation for the NPA qualification and Trinity College London exams.
Highland Dancing Excellence
While excelling in musical theatre, Issie continues to pursue her passion for Highland dancing. She has been diligently training for the Highland Dancing Championship season and has even been involved with the Lochryan Highland Dance Association as part of her Duke of Edinburgh volunteering commitment. Demonstrating an impressive ability to balance multiple disciplines, Issie recently dedicated just under 12 weeks to study for her Highland Dance Theory and grading exams. Travelling to Glasgow on Sunday, 9th March, she sat these exams with determination and achieved “Honours”—the highest possible mark—by memorising and mastering over two and a half grading units in a remarkably short time.
Accolades and Community Recognition
Issie’s accomplishments extend beyond her performance and academic achievements. Recognised for her outstanding contribution to sport and dance, she was awarded 3rd place in the “Junior Female under 16 Sports Personality of the Year” category at the recent Wigtownshire Sports Awards. Furthermore, she is a finalist for this year’s Awarding Wigtownshire Young Achiever of the Year—a recognition that marks her sixth finalist invite in just six months. Her accolades also include being the runner-up for both the D&G Life Awards and D&G Youth Awards, as well as being named the Most Achieved Dancer and Volunteer of the Year by the Lochryan Highland Dance Association.

Issie Lamberton’s journey is a testament to where dreams, hard work, and perseverance can lead.
