Control Resonant – PS5 Review

Remedy Entertainment brought Jesse Faden's story full circle on 24 September 2026 with Control Resonant, a sequel that swaps the original's gunplay for melee-focused combat and hands the reins to Dylan Faden, Jesse's sibling, as Manhattan tips into full paranatural collapse.

Reviews have landed strongly, if divided on the details: critics praised the game as "bizarre, inventive and extremely fun to play," with a stellar cast and some of the strongest art direction of the year. Vice went as far as a perfect 10/10, loving the same combat and atmosphere that other outlets found repetitive — Eurogamer landed at 3/5 and ComicBook.com at 2/5. Across 63 reviews it's settled at 84 on PS5, essentially matching the original's acclaim. Remedy's first stab at stylish action combat mostly lands, even if the misses are obvious when they happen.

A worthy, weirder follow-up that leans harder into Remedy's love of strange fiction and stranger combat. If you loved the Oldest House, Dylan's story is worth the trip back in — just brace for a rougher ride in melee than the original's gunplay ever gave you.
