STRANRAER ACADEMY

Headteacher Bulletin – #18

Dear Parents and Carers,

As we begin the new term, I hope this message finds you well-rested after the Easter break.

With exams approaching, our focus is on ensuring our students are well-prepared. Coursework is nearing completion, and we’re in the process of fine-tuning exam readiness. In the run-up to exams, we’re offering intensive pre-exam sessions, with teachers available to provide additional support. Encouraging your child to attend all lessons, including these sessions, is crucial. It’s important to note that study leave does not officially begin until May 6th. Students who have an exam before this date can study solely for that exam in school and at home on the day before that exam. Until the beginning of study leave, all Senior Phase students should be in school and attending lessons as normal.

As a priority this term, we’ll be reviewing and developing the Broad General Education (BGE), with a particular emphasis on enhancing our S1-3 courses. The BGE serves as the foundation for our students’ future success, providing them with essential knowledge and skills for the Senior Phase and beyond. Our aim is to ensure that incoming P7 students experience a seamless transition into S1, with ongoing improvements planned for our S2 and S3 courses.

On a final note, please mark your calendars for the upcoming S2 Parent’s Evening on Wednesday, April 17th, from 4:00 to 6:15 PM. This will be an excellent opportunity to discuss your child’s progress and any concerns you may have.

Thank you for your ongoing support.

Warm regards,

Jamie Farquhar,

Headteacher
