44 S1 pupils took in a matinée performance of Michael Morpurgo’s War Horse at Glasgow’s Theatre Royal in recognition of their commitment to improving literacy through the Accelerated Reader program.
Arriving slightly early at the venue, and discovering two pupils were on their very first visit to Glasgow, the group took a short walk to George Square and Donald Dewar’s statue in Buchanan Street.
Everyone was then wowed by the puppeteers, lighting effects and powerful storytelling of this adaptation.
This trip was part funded by Stranraer, Belmont and Ochtrelure Community Council, via a special application by Stranraer Academy’s Parent Council, and the Rhins Educational Trust. We would like to extend grateful thanks to these organisations for their ongoing support of our school’s quest to continue raising attainment for all. Special thanks to Mr Allan for accompanying this trip on his day off!
